Trailer

The series

The first Greek railway opened in 1869: nine miles of line between Thissio and Piraeus. The series follows how the network spread from Attica to Northern Greece, Thessaly and the Peloponnese, through old texts, photographs, archive film and interviews with current and former railway workers.

What it covers

The locomotives and carriages, the stations and their architecture, and the part the railway played in Greece’s military history.
